Scott Wissbaum

Scott Wissbaum has over 20 years of real estate acquisition and capital markets experience proactively structuring, restructuring, and managing debt and equity investments across a broad range of real estate product types.  Strengths include financial structuring and investment analysis, deal origination, deal underwriting, due diligence, deal packaging, deal management, and portfolio execution. Mr. Wissbaum enjoys well-developed relationships with an extensive network of local and national developers, builders, lenders, and investors.

At RED Group, Mr. Wissbaum collaborates with each client to fully understand their goals. Over the last few years, Scott has procured over $300 million in debt and equity financings primarily focused on multi-family, single-family, and land assets. Scott has personally pitched opportunities to over 250+ lenders and 100+ equity investors. Scott continuously underwrites and analyzes each deal, interacting with the client and capital source to overcome challenges as they arise and advances each deal from concept to closing.

Prior to forming RED Group, Mr. Wissbaum worked for Sabal Financial Group which was one of the largest buyers of distressed debt during the Great Recession purchasing over $9 billion UPB. At Sabal, Scott self-directed a portfolio of performing and non-performing loans secured by assets in 10 states. Scott developed and executed complicated business plans and managed each asset through final resolution. These business plans included loan modifications, deeds-in-lieu, note sales, foreclosures, deficiency judgments, and structured settlements.

Prior to joining Sabal Financial Group, Mr. Wissbaum was a capital markets advisor for a boutique real estate investment bank in San Diego. Scott facilitated debt and equity investments in various real estate development and repositioning opportunities.  Concurrently, Scott was a director for an asset management company specializing in entitling development projects. Projects ranged from large suburban master-planned communities to urban mixed-use high-rise projects and affordable housing properties.

Scott Wissbaum holds a MS in Real Estate from the University of San Diego and a BS in Finance and Economics from the University of Oregon. Scott is licensed in Washington, Oregon, and California.
